Rumtek Monastery, also known as the Dharma Chakra Centre, is the largest monastery in Sikkim and one of the most significant seats of Kagyu Buddhism in the world. Built by the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa in the 1960s, it houses priceless Buddhist artefacts, thangkas, and stupas within its golden-roofed halls. The monastery complex also contains the Nalanda Institute for Higher Buddhist Studies.
